How to Create a Squarespace Wedding Website
A wedding website is a great way to keep your guests informed and excited about your big day, and more importantly, it makes the RSVP process 100 times easier (plus, it’s less expensive then sending out printed invitations).
Here's how to make one yourself.
Make Your Own Squarespace Wedding Website
The below guide is exactly what we used to make our client’s wedding website. I’ve also included some nifty optional things we didn’t include but that might be nice to have. If you want to speed up your process, we’ve got a Contemporary Wedding Website Template you can use with a guided tutorial for each step.
1. Start with a Homepage
Your homepage is the first thing your guests will see when they visit your website. Use this page to introduce yourselves, share your love story if you like, and provide important details about your wedding day.
Use your favorite photo (in landscape format) and make sure there’s enough negative space around you so that links don’t cover your face.
Keep the image styling consistent. As in, either use black and white OR full color. We find this looks the best.
Your footer (all the way at the bottom) is what we call a “universal” section so anything you add to this section will show up on every page. Put key details here like contact information.
2. Travel & Stay Page for Hotel and Accommodations
If you have guests coming from out of town, it's important to provide them with information on travel arrangements and accommodations. Use this page to share information on flights, rental cars, hotels, and any other details your guests need to know.
Link your hotel especially if have a group discount or link, make this a button so it’s easy for guests to book!
Provide an address particularly if you have lots of out of town guests. You can also easily include a map.
Give extra details like how long they have to book, things to do in the area, etc.
3. RSVP Form to Collect Responses
Make it easy for your guests to RSVP to your wedding by including an RSVP form on your website. With our Squarespace template, you can use the built-in form block to connect your website to Google Sheets to keep track of your guest list.
Use a form blog. Make it easy for guests to RSVP with a simple form that also asks for meal details, allergies, and accessibility details as needed.
Connect your storage and notifications. Connect it to Google Sheets so you’ve got all your RSVPs in one place and (optionally) turn on notifications (not recommended if you’ve got a huge invitation list).
4. Registry Page (Optional)
While it's not necessary to include registry information on your wedding website, it can be helpful for guests who want to give you a gift. Consider including links to your registries or information on how guests can contribute to your honeymoon or other wedding expenses.
5. Gallery Page (Optional)
Consider adding a gallery page to your website to share photos of your engagement shoot or other special moments. This is a great way to give your guests a sneak peek of what's to come on your wedding day. You can also use a gallery page after the wedding to upload your wedding trailer, video, and or professional photos and simply send guests a link when it’s ready!
That’s it! That’s how you create a beautiful and functional website that you (and your guests) will love.
Happy planning!
