How to connect your namecheap domain name to Squarespace
Go to your Squarespace website, Settings —> Domains —> Use a Domain I Own and input your domain name.
Squarespace will identify if the domain name is from Namecheap and give you two options: transfer or connect your domain.
Transferring is great if you only have one domain at that registrar and want to keep everything together under one umbrella in Squarespace.
Connecting a domain simply means you keep them separate and connect them. This is typically faster than transferring.
Select “Connect” and it will give you step by step instructions for logging into Namecheap’s domain dashboard, going to “Nameservers,” selecting “Custom DNS” and inputting the required data provided by Squarespace.
Once the changes are made within Namecheap, hit Save and wait about 24 hours. This is what we call the propagation period. The connection is being made.
Finally, publish your Squarespace website to the world by going to your Squarespace backend Settings —> Site Availability —> Public.
You’re good to go!
Note: With a Squarespace Business Plan and up, you actually get a free Squarespace domain. Keep that in mind if you don’t have one already or want a second one!
